1953年、東京生まれ。上智大学文学部卒。東京外国語大学大学院博士課程修了。現、杏林大学教授、政策研究大学院大学客員教授。祖父は金田一京助、父は金田一春彦。主な著作に『新しい日本語の予習法』(角川書店)、『ふしぎ日本語ゼミナール』(日本放送出版協会)、『「汚い」日本語講座』(新潮新書)、『15歳の寺子屋15歳の日本語上達法』(講談社)、編著に『学研現代新国語辞典・改訂第4版』金田一春彦と共編(学習研究社)、監修に『金田一先生の使ってのばそう日本語力』全5巻(あかね書房)など多数。
◇イラスト:山内ジョージ(やまうちじょーじ) 漫画家、イラストレーター
1940年、大連(現中国東北部)生まれ。日本児童出版美術家連盟会員。1960年から1962年までトキワ荘に住み、石ノ森章太郎や赤塚不二夫のアシスタントを経て独立。TV『ひらけ!ポンキッキで動物文字アニメを担当。主な著作に『絵カナ?字カナ?』(偕成社)、『動物どうぶつABC』(ほるぷ出版)、『漢字絵本』(学習研究社)、『トキワ荘最後の住人の記録:若きマンガ家たちの青春物語』(東京書籍)などがある。受賞歴に2002年 文化庁メディア芸術祭特別賞、2004年 文化庁メディア芸術祭奨励賞がある。

The shape of kanji is connected to its meaning, like pictographs, making it easy to remember by sight. The On and Kun readings are learned by listening to rhythmical phrases, making them fun to learn by ear.
From the 240 educational kanji characters learned by 1st and 2nd graders, this book picks out specific kanji and introduces them with illustrative characters and example sentences, providing an easy way to learn about the origins, stroke order, and meanings of the kanji.
At the end of the book, there is a "Kanji Chart for 1st and 2nd Graders: Kanji Related to People, Movements, and States." This is a learning series that parents and children can enjoy together.

Born in 1953, Tokyo. Graduated from the Faculty of Letters, Sophia University. Completed the doctoral program at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Currently a professor at Kyorin University and a visiting professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies. His grandfather is Kyosuke Kindaichi, and his father is Haruhiko Kindaichi. Major works include "A New Method for Preparing Japanese" (Kadokawa Shoten), "Mystery Japanese Seminar" (NHK Publishing), "Dirty Japanese Language Course" (Shincho Shinsho), "How to Master Japanese for 15-year-olds" (Kodansha), and co-editor with Haruhiko Kindaichi of "The Gakken Modern New Japanese Dictionary: Revised 4th Edition" (Gakken). He has also supervised "Improve Your Japanese with Kindaichi Sensei" (Akane Shobo), a five-volume series.

Born in 1940 in Dalian (now Northeast China). A member of the Japan Children's Book Artists' Association. From 1960 to 1962, he lived in the Tokiwa-so apartment building, working as an assistant to Shotaro Ishinomori and Fujio Akatsuka before becoming independent. He was responsible for the animal character animations in the TV show "Hirake! Ponkikki". Major works include "Is it a Picture? Is it Kana?" (Kaiseisha), "Animal ABC" (Holp Shuppan), "Kanji Picture Book" (Gakken), and "The Last Resident of Tokiwa-so: The Youthful Stories of Young Manga Artists" (Tokyo Shoseki). Awards include the Special Prize at the 2002 Japan Media Arts Festival and the Encouragement Prize at the 2004 Japan Media Arts Festival.
